Vanessa Bsirsky

“Dogs are our link to paradise. They don’t know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring, it was peace.”- Milan Kundera

My name is Vanessa Bsirsky and I am a lifelong dog lover. Back in 2015 I gave up my job as a manager in the high end furniture industry so that I could study for a new career working with animals and have my own dog again.

Even though my actual name is Vanessa Bsirsky, I am also known as “Jack’s Mum.”

Why? Because everything I do is inspired by and dedicated to my late Whippet Jack, the dog who taught me so much and left us far too soon at only 3 years of age due to severe illness.

I volunteered at Alpha Dog Training Club in North London for a couple of years, mainly assisting in their puppy classes.

I initially gained my Introductory Instructor’s Award through the PDTI with Excellence in 2017 and have since completed many courses and workshops, obtaining a number of qualifications with Distinction along the way.

I have a keen interest in Separation Anxiety and I am a Certified Separation Anxiety Behaviour Consultant through the internationally renowned Separation Anxiety expert Julie Naismith. Helping clients and their dogs to work through this heartbreaking condition is truly the most wonderful and rewarding part of my job.

I can also assist you with your basic puppy training and obedience training needs - teaching your dog to walk nicely on a loose leash, come when called, learn basic commands, settle at home and in public places, tolerate to be handled and groomed, and more. We can work on things such as tricks and breed specific play - the sky is the limit!

Last but not least, I have a special interest and deep love for Whippets,  and have developed my own Whippet specific training games and training system to help you enjoy this wonderful breed. I offer all of my clients a holistic, supportive and compassionate approach personalised to their dog’s breed, personality and lifestyle. My training is practical, extremely structured, easy to follow, kind, caring, reward based, fun, and most Importantly, goes beyond just management alone. When you work with me I will support you not judge you,  and we’ll work together as a team.

I will celebrate your achievements with you along the way, and I am here for you when things are tough - I fully understand the implications of owning a “difficult” dog with behavioural problems and the stress this can cause to both your canine companion and yourself - my aim above everything else is to help deepen the bond between you and your dog.

In January 2024 my colleague Danny Decourtelle and I founded the East London Dog Training Collective. Danny has been working with people and dogs on an individual basis for over 10 years and specialises in reactivity and aggression. Our aim is to provide a bespoke, comprehensive and caring approach for the most challenging of dogs that suffer with Separation Anxiety as well as reactivity or aggression.  Our approach is effective and compassionate and goes beyond management alone. Please contact me for further details.

If there is anything you are unsure about, please complete the Contact Form here to get in touch. I offer all prospective clients a free 15 minute Discovery Call via Zoom upon request so that we can meet, discuss your training needs and goals, and decide which training programme would be best suited to you and your dog.
